Oh…
Posted in News at 2:19 pm on 29/08/10So, you’re in town, any town. You’re bored. You have just had the latter half of a subway sandwich eyed up by some hungry crows and feeling their overwhelming presence, you threw it to them and are wandering around fists in pockets. How could they?! Well, i can’t get your sandwich back, but i can offer something equally satisfying.
You go to WHSmith. You browse the magazines. You find a white cover, the words “Oh Comely” scrawled on the top. A photograph of a young woman sits nicely in the centre. You buy the magazine. Only when you open this magazine do you truly realize what a treasure it is.
£4 will get you the most curious book you’ve ever had the good fortune to hold in your mits. Last issue (#1) among other things, contained an article about gardens popping up in pedestrianised areas in cities. This issue has a bit about the Royal Mail and it’s ability to deliver bananas, porn, and a pair of jeans, all unwrapped, but with stamps and the address attached to the item in question.
Anyway, i’m getting off the beaten track and will return. You flick through the magazine and feel it’s heavy quality paper, and it feels like it’s worth the price. You flick to page 26, what’s this (?) an article about illustrators?! Cool. Keep flicking. Page 30. What’s this? A picture by Mister Hope?! That’s right kids, Mister Hope gets his name and picture in a magazine. A very cool magazine.
Please go and buy issue 2, and tell your friends to too!

Prints of this are available at Aperture Framing, in Buxton. Or you can let me know, and i’ll sell you one via email, and post it out to you !

Hello Mr, I bought this magazine myself and the illustration you did is wonderful, along with the meaning behind it. I was wondering whether this picture was available scanned, perhaps suitable as a desktop wallpaper? Many thanks
